Dear Dana,
For the past several years, my family
has participated in club volleyball. This has been a wonderful
experience for both of my daughters and our family.
Last year, my oldest daughter Kelly
played Glass City for the first time. My daughters have experience
with nearly every club in the area. While we have always enjoyed
club volleyball, I wanted to let you know we were truly impressed
and surprised at the difference between Glass City and other area
clubs.
When we arrived for Kelly’s try-out
last year, Kelly and I were both delighted that you personally took
the time to greet her—and recognized her as a St. Ursula player. I
was amazed that you followed local players—even freshman and knew
her position even though we never even tried out for Glass City
before. When the season started, it was initially a little
challenging blending players from different high schools and
coaches. There was understandably some friction initially.
Fortunately, you are the type of manager that meets these types of
challenges head on—bringing coaches and parents together to discuss
issues and find resolutions. The coaches listened to the parents
input and put some suggestions into action. They also worked with
the players, bringing out their individual strengths while building
a team that worked together. The end result was a successful season
that brought a team that struggled the first tournament to a team
that won several tournaments and placed third in gold in the OVR.
This fall, we found out what an
incredible resource your coaching team can be. And, we are not
alone. Parents and players competed for time with Tony and other
members of your coaching staff. My daughter felt that she learned
more in a single session than from any other club coach. I have
heard this same comment over and over from other parents and
players.
This year, both of my daughters are
playing for Glass City and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you for all
you’ve done to develop this extraordinary program.
Sincerely,
Linda Papenfus
