On
August 20, 2009, Glass City hosted a Kids Who Care event in
conjunction
with the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Service
Week at Cardinal
Stritch High School. The match featured John Kazmaier's
Cardinal Stritch
Cardinals against Tony Geer's Northview Wildcats.
The charity for the night was the Family and Child Abuse
Prevention Center.
One of Glass
City's volleyball and Hoopsters participant, Abbey Pawlak
started a campaign to raise money for child abuse. Abbey is
a 7th grader at
McCord Junior High School. She heard and watched the Martina
McBride
video,"Concrete Angel" two years ago and came up with the
idea of decorating
pumpkins blue and selling them in the fall. Over the past
two years she has
raised close to $2,000 herself. The event raised $1680.00
for the charity
last night. Abbey is so special and her cause so unique
Glass City is
committed to helping her raise more money. A special thank
you to all those
individuals who made the night so successful- your donations
and
volunteerism are very much appreciated!
